Following our 5-2 win over title rivals Chadderton tonight defender and debutant Courtney Meppen-Walter gave us his thoughts on the game.
Courtney Meppen-Walter: “Yeah, it’s great, we came here to win and that’s what we did. I’m obviously gutted to concede 2 but we came and won 5-2 so it’s a great result and that’s all we wanted really.”
He than told us about what attracted him when he decided to join the shakers with him saying “Yeah I spoke to the gaffer a few times and it’s my hometown club and Bury my team if you know what I mean so it was a no-brainer for me really and I’m happy to be here and part of the promotion push.”
Courtney than gave us his thoughts on his debut performance, he said: “The main thing was to win so even if I had a bad performance, it didn’t matter as long as we won and that’s all that matters today.”
He than gave us his thoughts on another fantastic travelling away support with him saying “They definitely are the 12th man, so it helps massively” he further added “It definitely got us over the line today and we need more of that and as Gaz Peet said it was the best atmosphere we’ve had all season, so it just shows what happens when the fans are behind you.”
He than finished the interview by looking ahead to the boxing day clash against Ramsbottom.
Courtney Meppen-Walter: “These are the types of games you want to be apart of and if your not up for games like this than you shouldn’t be playing football really.”
