After another 2-0 win and another clean sheet the skipper gave us his analysis on the game.
“Great game, we controlled most parts of it obviously, we made a great start. Yeah I thought the first half we did really well and in the second half I don’ think we kept the ball very well and I don’t think we had control of the game for 30 minutes of the second half what isn’t very good and then we got the goal what I thought killed the game a little bit and I don’t think they had many chances but yeah it’s just another 3 points from a tough place to play.”
Gaz than gave his thoughts on returning to left back in today’s starting 11.
Gaz Peet: “I’ll play wherever I told the gaffer that but it’s nice as you can get a bit further forward, and we got another clean sheet and we’re the best defence in the league now and it is different and its also nice to have Connor in front of me instead of to the side of me.”
He than spoke about the difference between having Connor Pye on the wing in comparison to the other wingers. Gaz said “We have a lot of different wingers who play differently, obviously Connor provides a bit more defensively than say your Alex or Irwyah who are a bit more knock it and run at defenders but with the way we play I don’t think it really matters who’s on the wing as you see with Connor who I thought had a really good game and then Alex comes on who I think gives you something a bit different but I think everyone all over the pitch gives you something as long as you work hard.”
Gaz than looked ahead to Tuesday’s game against Charnock Richard saying “Yeah obviously we know what Charnock are like and they caused a lot of problems for us last year and at the away game but the sending off kind of killed the game off. So it’ll be a lot different this time we’ve just got to play better than we did on Tuesday as we were all disappointed after Tuesday as we played a good side in St Helens but we didn’t play as well as we did today and if we played the way we did today against St Helens we’d of won the game so we’ve just got to work harder against a few teams as I’ve said before our technical level will grind teams down but we’ve got to win these first and second balls especially in those first 20 minutes but yeah it will be a hard game.”
To finish the interview Gaz praised the fans for their outstanding support saying “It’s always the same thing the fans are amazing it was even a early kick off and it’s a long way so just keep watching us now with whatever going on it doesn’t matter now it’s just about what’s going on, on the pitch which is us getting 3 points and the fans are enjoying watching us and it’s nice to have everyone behind us and hopefully that carries on and we keep winning so thank you very much for travelling down in your numbers.”
